GPI Fellowship Programme
The Global Prosperity Institute (GPI) is excited to announce the launch of the GPI Fellowship Programme. This unique fellowship offers successful candidates a 12 to 24 month paid position working in and helping to grow dynamic small businesses across Tanzania. Designed for recent graduates, young professionals, and those seeking to expand their horizons and maximise their impact, the GPI Fellowship is a rare opportunity to gain real world experience in driving broad based sustainable economic growth.
The GPI Fellowship seeks to connect passionate people with high impact companies in Tanzania to effect positive change.
Opportunity Highlights
As a GPI Fellow, you will be placed within an impact focused private enterprise. You might be leading the commercialisation of honey from smallholder apiarists in Western Tanzania, advancing an innovative carbon capture project in the Southern Highlands, or working to provide renewable energy to remote communities. Roles and companies will be matched to successful applicants with the view to finding the best fit and maximising the benefits for all parties.
You will be entrusted with significant decision-making powers, providing a platform to develop invaluable real-world experience, and directly contribute to grassroots economic development. By living and working full time in Tanzania, you will gain an on-the-ground understanding of how change happens in low-income countries.
The GPI works with impact focused for-profit companies based in Tanzania. These companies are often in the agricultural sector – aggregators, processors, exporters – as the majority of people living in poverty rely on agriculture for their livelihood and agri-processors have the ability to create stable employment in rural areas.
You will also have the opportunity to contribute to the GPI’s work – pitching, writing, and editing a range of articles on economic growth and development across the world.
The fellowship comes with a living wage stipend. Additionally, the GPI will provide housing in country, Tanzanian work and residence permits, and emergency evacuation insurance.
Who we are looking for
We are seeking recent graduates, young professionals, or just someone looking for a change of direction. We welcome applications from a range of backgrounds. You will be passionate about international development and eager for a new challenge. You will be comfortable working in complex, fast-paced environments, and developing innovative solutions to real world problems.
How to apply
Interested candidates are encouraged to apply by submitting their resume and a cover letter that outlines your interest in the fellowship and what you hope to achieve.
Applications for the initial cohort of fellows close April 30th 2024.
